Kia Soul — More Soul, More Power

Kia Motors, one of the fastest growing car brands in the United States, continues its design-led transformation into the new year with the 2015 Kia Soul. The new and improved Soul has already garnered a number of accolades, including a Consumer's Digest "Best Buy" award as well as earning a top spot in Experian Automotives' loyalty rankings. Kia's transformation company-wide is reflected in the 2015 Kia Soul with upgrades in power and engine efficiency, as well as exterior and interior enhancements.

Soul Power

The 2015 Kia Soul packs more punch with its newly equipped 1.6-liter GDI engine. Now with direct injection, the four-cylinder pumps out 138 HP (up from 122 HP in the 2011's 1.6L) and a torque of 123 lb-ft (up from 115 lb-ft). Soul drivers are also given the option of the new 2.0L Nu Engine. Although without direct injection, the multi-port fuel injection engine produces 164 HP (from 142 HP) and 148 lb-ft of torque (up from 137 lb-ft).

Soul's Fuel Economy

With improved engines, transmission, and technologies, the 2015 Kia Soul's fuel efficiency pleases the pockets. The 1.6L GDI engine will return 28 mpg city/34 highway (up from 26/31), while the 2.0L Nu Engine will get you 27/33 (up from 24/30). The 6-speed automatic transmission also allows for smoother and sharper shifting compared to the 2011's 4-speed.

The Soul is also equipped with an "active ECO" system, as well as ISG, Kia's Idle Stop and Go feature. The "active ECO" system runs the engine in its most efficient setting available, while ISG shuts the engine off when the Soul comes to a complete stop, preventing wear and tear on the motor.

Outside the Soul

Aesthetic updates in the 2015 model include LED projector headlights and rear tail lamps, front and rear bumper redesign, a sculpted hood, and new side mirrors with turn signals. Three trims are available in 2015: the Soul, Soul!, and Soul+.

Inside the Soul

The interior of the new Kia Soul brings better materials for a better cabin environment. Standard goodies include:

  • thicker insulated dash-panel for a quieter ride
  • Standard Hill Assist Control
  • Vehicle Stability Management
  • revised steering wheel

Top-spec amenities in the Soul! includes a UVO voice-controlled, touch-screen entertainment and navigation system, as well as a 350-watt, 7-speaker Infinity sound system.

The host of a number of awards for its redesigned engine, increased fuel efficiency, and enhanced exteriors and interiors, the 2015 Kia Soul is destined to earn more recognition before the year's end. Groovy.
