Buick Enclave - Upscale Family Crossover

Looking for the benefits of a full size SUV without compromising on luxury? The Buick Enclave gives you the best of both worlds. It combines the smooth, quiet ride of a luxury car with the high seating height, roominess and all weather maneuverability of a full size SUV. The Enclave has seating for seven or eight passengers, depending on your choice of center row buckets or bench. And, like many GM models, the Enclave shares the same unibody frame as the GMC Acadia and the Chevy Traverse. However, as Buicks go, the Enclave has sleeker exterior lines and a more luxurious interior.

Enclave Performance and Fuel Economy

Whether you choose Front Wheel Drive or All Wheel Drive, the Enclave is powered by a direct injected, 3.6L V6 with VVT, (variable valve timing) coupled with a 6-speed automatic transmission. This V6 produces 288 horsepower and 270 lb. ft. of torque while delivering an EPA estimated 17 city and 24 highway mpg for the FWD, and 16 city, 22 highway with the AWD option. Want the capability of pulling a trailer? You can, with the optional trailer provision package. With this package, Enclave will handle that camper, or toy hauler up to 4,500 pounds.

Enclave Safety Features

The Buick Enclave features StabiliTrak stability control, along with full range traction control and four wheel disc, antilock brakes as standard. Airbags include dual stage front and side impact for driver and front passenger. Side curtain airbags are also standard for first, second and third row outboard passengers, with passenger sensing system and roll-over protection. The OnStar system is activated when the airbags deploy. OnStar then connects you with a live operator that checks on your condition, pin points your exact location and sends emergency services to assist if needed. And, one of the newest safety features available is the articulating xenon headlights that actually automatically "aim" themselves in the direction of the curve! These headlights are a part of the Premium package.

What's New for 2015

The familiar CX and CXL trim level names are gone for 2015. Instead, Buick is using package names to better represent the four trim levels, which are: Base, Convenience, Leather and Premium. Another notable feature is "Hill-Hold" assist braking. This technology is now standard and automatically activates on inclines of 5 percent or steeper. This prevents the vehicle from rolling backwards by holding the brakes for 1.5 seconds after your foot leaves the brake pedal. Also new is "Enhanced Electronic Pedal Override". This senses when both the brake and accelerator pedals are depressed at the same time. The system then reduces power to the engine to avoid unintended acceleration.

A Brief History of Buick and Enclave

Buick, currently the oldest (and still active) American automobile manufacturer, originated as the Buick Auto-Vim and Power Company in 1899. It was later incorporated as the Buick Motor Company in May of 1903. Since the focus of Buick was primarily aimed at the American Luxury car market, the thought of producing a sport utility vehicle came much later than it did with other manufacturers. After the introduction of the Rendezvous in 2002 and the Rainer in 2004, the Enclave entered the full size crossover market in May of 2007, as a 2008 model. It replaced both the Rendezvous and Rainer. Interesting fact - did you know that the Buick Enclave has more interior room than the Cadillac Escalade? It's true! Enclave's cargo capacity is 115.3 cubic feet, compared to 108.9 cubic feet in the Caddy.
