Audi Q7 - Luxury and Performance in a Powerful Package
The Audi Q7 competes in the full-size luxury SUV market, a segment that has some pretty high-brow competition. Fortunately for the folks at Audi, the Q7 stands up quite nicely to the challenge. Audi vehicles are known for their quality build, luxurious feel and solid driving performance; the Q7 is no different. If anything, the Q7 brings a new level of luxury feel to the Audi lineup.
With its all-wheel drive and surprisingly lively suspension, the Q7 hugs the road in all driving conditions. The interior has the classy and sophisticated luxury look that you'd expect from a vehicle in this class as well. There's very little not to like about the Audi Q7, including the handling, which Audi seems to have perfected in all of its vehicles. For this model year, Audi is also offering a TDI diesel version of the Q7.
Q7 Features and Trim Levels
Competing in the luxury SUV arena means delivering what your target customers expect at this level. The Q7 does that, and more. Starting with the premium trim package as the entry-level offering, Audi begins packing in the features:
- heated 12-way power front seats in leather
- dual-zone auto climate-control
- power lift-gate
- parking sensors
- 18-inch alloys
- tilt/telescoping steering wheel
The premium plus version goes a step further in adding:
- panoramic sunroof
- xenon headlights
- rearview camera
- navigation system
- Bose premium sound system
- 20-inch wheels
- keyless entry and ignition
- ventilated front seats
- blind-spot warning system
- power everything-you-can-imagine
- 14-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system
- increased power under the hood
Speaking of under the hood, the base model Q7 engine is a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 that puts out 280-hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. The S-line increases the power output to 333-hp, with 325 lb-ft of torque. Both of these engines are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and all of the vehicles are all-wheel drive. The Q7 TDI gets a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V6 that puts out 225-hp and an incredible 406 lb-ft of torque.
Drive and Feel with the Q7
Perhaps the best feature of the Audi Q7 is its driving and handling characteristics. All Audi vehicles are well-known for their superb handling, but you may think a vehicle the size of the Q7 would lose some of this legendary responsiveness - you'd be wrong. The Q7 is every bit as nimble as you'd like it to be, thanks to Audi's well-designed Quattro all-wheel drive system.
Inside, the Q7 looks and feels like the premium luxury vehicle it is. The thoughtful and well-designed layout along with the highest quality materials, make the Q7 feel plush without being over-the-top. The instrumentation panel is clearly designed for the driver's comfort and ease of use. Five adults will fit very comfortably in the Q7's first two rows. For a vehicle of this quality and build, the Q7 is a pretty good bargain, too. Anyone considering this high-end class of luxury SUV would be well-served to check out the Audi Q7 and enjoy the performance side of luxury.
